MassihDaneshvari Hospital NRITLD is the only referral center for Tuberculosis treatment, Pulmonary Diseases and tracheal surgery in Iran. This hospital is the only hospital in Iran for Lung transplantation. Many patients from our neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan, Iraq and Afghanistan refer to this center for treatment.

Department of Thoracic Surgery

Department of Thoracic surgery in the Hospital is an outstanding subspecialty in Iran and almost in the world in terms of tracheal surgery. Numerous tracheal and laryngotracheal surgeries are performed in this department annually, meanwhile the annual number of general thoracic surgeries is comparable to those international centers worldwide. This department trains thoracic surgery residents and fellows as well.

Subdivisions of this department include thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, transplantation and ENT.

The cardiac and thoracic surgery subdivisions of this center are actively involved in the fields of lung transplantation, tracheal surgery, TB related surgeries, thoracoscopic surgery, esophageal cancer surgery and cardiac surgery. Pulmonary thrombectomy and arterectomy are also frequently performed in the cardiac subdivision.

Masih Daneshvari Hospital is amongst the pioneer medical centers throughout the region, in terms of tracheal surgery. This is due to the large number of tracheal surgeries and resections performed on patients suffering from post-intubation laryngeal or tracheal stenosis as well as several surgical resections due to tracheal stenosis.

Lung transplant ward of this hospital is the most active one nationwide with over 50 cases of lung transplantation. Also another eye catching achievement of MasihDaneshvari hospital is 80 cases of heart transplant which could not be realized without consistent cooperation and contribution of expert medical and nursing teams.
